Ngorongoro Crater Lodge Article

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, Tanzania:
Boudoirs here are silk-draped and hung with ruby-beaded chandeliers, the baroque bathrooms scattered with red rose petals. The stone-and-thatch Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is Africa's most extraordinary safari camp, perched on the crater's southwestern edge as improbably as a jewel box. The site was a British governor's hunting camp in the days when it was quite the jolly thing to shoot everything in sight. Masai Versailles, they call it, or make that a Phantom of the Opera set, with zebras and antelopes in the audience!
